Lake Kashiba
Lake Kashiba is one of the sunken lakes in Zambia, it is located in Mpongwe. It is one of the top sites which should be added to everyone’s list of things to do on the Copperbelt. The lake is surrounded by limestone rocks but has accessible paths for swimmers to enter and exit the water. The word Kashiba actually means “small lake” in the local language. The lake Kashiba site is a popular location for Bird watching, Catch and release fishing, Picnics, Camping and Swimming.
The lake has a variety of fish, the most popular being bream. However, the lake also has very many local
myths including warnings. One such myth is that one should not eat fish from lake because it will not be cooked even if it was
left to cook all day and all night.
Schedule your next visit to Lake Kashiba and enjoy the quietness away from the usual hustle
and bustle of town life.
