Kafue National Park
The Kafue National Park is Africa's biggest game sanctuary covering 22,500 square kilometres. The Kafue
River and its tributaries contribute to the diversity of the landscapes.
The northern section of the park is dominated by a vast floodplain, called Busanga Plains which attracts a variety of animals
and birds all year round. This is one of Kafue’s richest wildlife areas attracting a diverse range of antelope including the red
lechwe and the sitatunga in deep swamps
The profusion of Game in the Kafue National Park attracts the big cats, notably lion and cheetah including the normally elusive leopard which is sighted regularly. Birdlife is richly abundant.
The lust strip of riverine vegetation on the banks of the Kafue River is home to crocodiles, monitor lizards, hippo and bushbuck.
